Born and raised in Malaysia, Denise was exposed to a variety of food and culture from a young age. Coming from a family that lives to eat, with so many talented cooks, her Chinese-Portuguese heritage only fueled her passion for food more.
Denise continued her love for food by pursuing a Professional Chef Training Course from the IMI Institute of Switzerland, where she graduated at the top of her class. She continued her studies at the renowned Thames Valley University in London (a.k.a. University of West London) earning her diploma in Higher Education of Culinary Arts Management.
During her time in London, Denise had the opportunity to have a closed training session for Merit Scholars with Chef John Campbell of the 2 Michelin Star Vineyard Restaurant. Upon completing her studies in London, Denise relocated to Perth to be closer to family. It was here that she met her wonderful husband, Steve.
Denise’s previous employment includes being the Asian Specialties and Pastry Chef at The Oyster Bar in North Fremantle, where she introduced new menu offerings and revamped the traditional kiosk items to include innovative fusion offerings. Denise was also the Head Chef at The Gallery Oasis Café, Mount Claremont, where she successfully set up a brand new venture for the owners. She then joined Perth’s top high-end catering company, Comestibles, and provided catering services at exclusive events such as Gucci and Swatches of Switzerland’s launch parties, as well as the private parties of Perth’s elite.
