I grew up in South Africa where we spent most of our holidays camping and fishing along the beautiful north coast and into Mozambique.I learnt to fillet and cook fish at a very young age, as my dad always told me “you keep it, you eat it.”
I would say that’s where my passion for cooking over fire and using fresh, simple ingredients came from.
After finishing high school, I travelled for two years and spent my final year working in a kitchen in Scotland. From here, I decided I wanted to pursue cooking as my career.
I returned back to South Africa where I completed a 3 year Cordon Blue French cooking course.
Once qualifying in 2007 I was lucky enough to learn under the team at Le Quartier Francais in South Africa, which at the time was number one restaurant in Africa. I’ve had 10 years’ experience as a chef in the industry where I have been lucky enough to have worked in some award winning restaurant and lodges in South Africa and New Zealand alongside some well known chefs who have earned michelin stars, hats and a number of accolades.
I’ve recently enjoyed a Private chef role on an Australian based Yacht and thrived on the personal connection that comes alongside working with a client to create a wow – factor for their private dinners. I am dedicated and passionate about producing high quality and innovative dishes and place high importance tailoring the event to the client’s needs, in order to create a memorable experience for all.
My wife and I have now settled in Mornington where I have enjoyed supporting the locals with their quality produce and foraging the local landscape to create memorable dishes.
