Renzo Geminiani, born and grew up in a village in north Italy, 50 Km from Venice in the Po delta, the biggest Italian river, in an area known for fishing and particularly eel fishing.
Renzo started his carrier very young, at the age of 14, following his passion of food, alternating the professional Italian culinary school with work during summer holiday.
Renzo first started his professional cooking career in the 80’s around Italy in well known hotels and restaurants in popular touristic areas.
In the 90’s Renzo worked in iconic Italian Hotels like “Hotel Des Bains” in Venice and “Hotel De La Poste” in Cortina d’Ampezzo
In 2003, with the help of his wife (Stefania), restaurant manager and professional sommelier, they opened their own restaurant, ‘Zafferano” in Ferrara, a medieval city in north Italy. A fine dining restaurant, settled in an ancient building dating back to 1400 century. There they got many awards from the most prestigious Italian and foreign restaurant guides..
Renzo and his wife moved to Sydney four years ago. Until recently Renzo worked at A Tavola restaurant in Sydney making fresh pasta in front of the diners

Renzo was a last minute substitute for our scheduled chef. He was very friendly. He was very focused to do a good job from the moment he arrived. He was very meticulous and interacted well with Jo the server.
The food itself was a little lacking. I was disappointed with the quality of the food given the price. Although I offered Renzo the use of our plate warmer, he did not take up this tool. The entree scallop dish came out cool.
He cleaned up extremely well and the kitchen was spotless when he left. He didn’t interact much with guests; this may have been a language comfort thing.
Jo the server was excellent!!! She was great. I really appreciated her attention to detail and interest to assist with anything needed during the evening. We loved having Renzo as our Chef at home. He was incredibly professional, friendly and was great to deal with. He chatted with the guests and spoke to us about his food. His cooking was absolutely delicious – all the guests were very impressed and extremely satisfied!! Highly recommend Renzo, we would definitely use him again. We were lucky enough to have Renzo cook for us as part of a lovely gift from friends. I can not recommend him enough the food was delicious and cooked to perfection. We had the scallops for entree, Duck for main and and desert was modified as one of us is dairy intolerant. Each dish was more delicious than the last. Thank you Renzo!
