Born and bred in Newcastle, Amanda had a strong up brining where her Maltese heritage influenced her way of life, with a focus on family and food.
Attending Whitebridge High Amanda was encouraged by her Food Technology and Hospitality teachers to pursue a career in the hospitality industry. This saw Amanda leave school at the end of year eleven to start her apprenticeship with the award winning Nisner Banquets and Conventions.
In the early days Amanda’s career was focused in the kitchen learning her trade and utilising fresh seasonal produce. However Amanda’s passion was in the dessert section of the kitchen, seeing her awarded numerous medals for her dessert and chocolate competitions.
After the completion of her trade qualifications Amanda furthered her studies by completing an Advanced Diploma in Hospitality and Events along with a Certificate IV in Training and Accessing. These qualifications eventually led Amanda to a career path in management and events working as the Food and Beverage Services Manager at Hunter Valley Gardens, followed by Assistant Food and Beverage Manager at Cypress Lakes catering for small intimate weddings and events to large scale corporate events and festivals.
Along with her husband Timothy the couple started Eat Me Catering, taking gourmet restaurant quality catering to their clients across Newcastle, Hunter Valley and Central Coast.
