Hot Wedding Food Trends for 2015
Jun 16, 2019

Today’s wedding catering choices are endless. From Traditional sit-down dinners and buffets to recently popularized stations and tasting menus, creating a menu for wedding guests has never been more fun. Top party planners give a glimpse of what we can expect to see in 2015.

Nostalgic Tastes

Weddings are all about making new memories and cherishing old ones, why not let your food get in on the nostalgia? Serving up childhood favorites, a meal the bride and groom shared on a first date or special occasion, or a food that has roots in family tradition is a great way to incorporate special memories into a wedding.

All Things British

Food with a British twist began to gain popularity in 2014, and this will continue into 2015. Canapés are still going strong, both as an informal dining option or a course before the main meal. Traditional British fare served in miniature form will continue to be hugely popular. Think mini fish and chip cones and mini steak and chips with horseradish dipping sauce. Another British tradition offers some interesting catering option-tea parties. Tea parties can be formal or more casual and it’s easy to add a gourmet touch to traditional tea fare.

Brides and Brunch

In 2014 we also saw a trend of brunch-time weddings on the rise. With morning weddings being cheaper than their nighttime cousins, brunch weddings will become even more popular in 2015. Think having an early wedding will hinder your catering choices? Think again. Everyone loves brunch and with choices like omelets, pancakes and waffles with decadent toppings, mimosas and Bloody Marys guests will definitely be happy.

Cupcakes to Cookies

While cupcakes have stolen the spotlight for the past few years as the hottest wedding sweet, cookies are now starting to bump them from their number one spot. Handmade cookies are huge right now. Whether they are added to a dessert table, personalized and used as place settings, or given as favors, expect to see these tasty nibbles gracing many wedding tables.

Taking the Cake

While tiers of cupcakes or other sweets may have tried to usurp the wedding cake, traditional cakes are not going anywhere anytime soon. While the wedding cake remains supreme, trends abound for creating this classic confection. Bakers take careful note of emerging trends when creating their designs and pair them with wedding themes personal to each event. Textured monochromatic cakes, vintage-inspired creations, and themed cakes are all trending in 2015.
