Tapenade is a blended French paste consisting classicly of pureed black olive, anchovy, capers and olive oil, usually served as an appetizer spread on bread, croutons or grissini.

Commonly made with different ingredients with the term ‘tapenade’ referring to the preparation as appose to the dish, ie. Roasted Capsicum tapenade would dictate a capsicum paste.
